Crucial Conversations®:
The Standard in Effective Communication

Are low morale, reduced productivity or poor quality of work impeding progress at your School?

Whenever you’re not getting the results you want, it’s likely an important conversation either hasn’t happened or hasn’t been handled well. In fact, both individual and organizational success are largely determined by how quickly, directly, and effectively we speak up when it matters most.

At the heart of healthy and high-performance organizations are people willing and able to hold crucial conversations.

A crucial conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. When conversations turn crucial, people tend to follow one of two ineffective paths: they either speak directly and abrasively to get the results they want but harm relationships, or they remain silent with the hope of preserving relationships only to sacrifice results.

The award-winning Crucial Conversations® Training is a licensed program by Vital Smarts® that equips people with skills to step into disagreement — rather than over or around it — and turn disagreement into dialogue for improved relationships and results.

Crucial Conversations® teaches participants to :

  • Identify problems early and speak with complete candor (no matter the topic) and with complete respect (no matter the person or position)

  • Resolve disagreements, speak persuasively, and engage others in dialogue to ensure better decision making and commitment

  • Build high-performance teams built on trust and respect, and foster responsibility and accountability

Don’t miss this opportunity to find out why Singapore educators from Yangzheng Primary, Casuarina Primary, Nan Hua Primary, Zhenghua Secondary, Greendale Secondary, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, NUS, SMU and others who have benefitted from the Crucial Conversations® program are raving about it.

Here’s what some of them are saying:

  • Malvine Chong
    Programme Chair
    (School of Hospitality)
    Republic Polytechnic

“The skills learnt during the Crucial Conversations® course have been beneficial to me.

Applying the skills when I had to engage a parent and student with a rather tricky situation worked well, and it also led to a positive result with all parties agreeing on a mutual purpose.”

  • Jeremy Ang
    Head of Department
    Elias Park Primary

    “A very enriching workshop.

(It helps to) break down barriers to communication which served to increase productivity in our school. With a common purpose, we should all feel free to speak up on sensitive issues with the aim of bringing about organizational changes.”

  • Lily Tow
    Loyang Primary School

“The Crucial Conversations course is useful.

The very prompt and easy strategies shared opened my mindset about how to navigate difficult conversations with others. ”

  • Khairiana Zainal Abiden
    Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah

After our Madrasah completed the Crucial Conversations® course, my KPs have been using common phrases from the key principles that they learnt during the program, e.g., “is this a fact or a story?”.

I believe knowing the right way of holding crucial conversations will better enable my KPs to conduct more effective review sessions with their teachers.

I encourage leaders and middle managers in schools and madrasahs to attend this training as it will improve and enhance the way they communicate with their staff and colleagues."
